The Oxford University China-Africa Network (OUCAN) is an academic, multi-dimensional organisation that seeks to forge cross-disciplinary and trans-regional links between researchers, practitioners, and officials around the emerging phenomenon of Chinese engagement with Africa.

Past OUCAN events have included successful workshops on new research horizons, regular seminar series focused on a variety of issues -ranging from the role of Maoist China in nation building in Guinea over the Exim-Bank and Angola's post-conflict reconstruction to barefoot doctors in Tanzania and Zambia- and a post-graduate study group.

OUCAN, as a network and knowledge hub, works in tandem with a number of academic institutions and regional research organisations to ensure the cross-pollination of ideas that is essential to substantive work on emerging China-Africa relations. We hope that this will both contribute to better science and more real world understanding between the different actors involved.
